About the Server
UMSIDA Preprints Server merupakan terobosan yang dilakukan oleh Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo untuk melakukan penyimpanan karya tulis ilmiah mahasiswa sebagai TA/Skripsi/Tesis. Pemanfaatan dari server ini adalah untuk melakukan penyimpanan terhadap karya tulis ilmiah tersebut. Sehingga karya tulis ilmiah dari mahasiswa dapat tersimpan sekaligus terdesiminasikan sambil menunggu karya tulis ilmiah tersebut lolos proses telaah dari jurnal ilmiah tujuan. Konsep preprints merupakan pengembangan dari konsep repositori. Pada preprints objek yang disimpan adalah spesifik pada artikel ilmiah, khususnya artikel ilmiah yang sedang menunggu proses telaah pada jurnal ilmiah.
Karya tulis ilmiah yang tayang pada server ini adalah karya tulis ilmiah yang sudah terbit atau dalam proses telaah jurnal ilmiah. Karya tulis ilmiah yang tayang di server ini juga adalah karya yang sudah dipertahankan oleh mahasiswa saat ujian di masing-masing program studi.
Unggah karya tulis ilmiah pada preprints sendiri tidak dianggap sebagai self-plagiarism atau double publication oleh mayoritas penerbit jurnal ilmiah. Hal ini bisa dilihat pada kebijakan terkait prerprints di penerbit bereputasi dan komunitas editor ilmiah berikut ini:

Malah, sesungguhnya disarankan penulis untuk menggunggah terlebih dahulu karya tulis ilmiahnya pada preprints server, untuk meningkatkan penyebaran dari naskah. Hal itu sebagaimana tersirat dari kutipan-kutipan berikut:
"Preprints and preprint servers are useful implementations of scientific
communication from the very same inception of scientific manuscripts. This has been made possible by the increased capabilities for archiving and retrieval of digital content at the journal pre-publication stage, in addition to the former expansion in parallel post-publication dissemination"
