The Influence of Work Environment, Competence and Work Motivation on Indomaret Employee Performance

This study aims to analyze the influence of Work Environment, Competence, and Work Motivation on Employee Performance at Indomaret amid the increasingly competitive retail industry. This research uses a quantitative descriptive method with cluster sampling, involving 100 respondents from a population of 435 Indomaret employees across three sub-districts in Sidoarjo: Candi, Tanggulangin, and Porong. The results show that the Work Environment has a negative effect on Employee Performance, with social relationships being more dominant than physical aspects. Competence has a significant positive effect, particularly practical skills in improving work efficiency. Work Motivation also has a significant positive effect, especially the drive to excel, which encourages performance improvement. Simultaneously, all three variables significantly affect Employee Performance. Therefore, strategies to enhance social interaction, skill development, and work motivation should be implemented to optimize operational effectiveness and Indomaret’s competitiveness.
