Abstract

Junior high school students can experience cognitive load in learning. Cognitive load can be caused by excess capacity in learning and self-efficacy can play an important role for students, especially in learning. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between self-efficacy with cognitive load of junior high school students Muhammadiyah 1 Sidoarjo. the research sampling technique is stratified random sampling technique with a total sample of 221 students.  The instrument in this study was a self-efficacy scale with a Cronbach alpha value of 0.866 and a cognitive load scale with a Cronbach alpha value of 0.937. Data analysis using JASP.  The results of the analysis showed a positive relationship in the self-efficacy variable with cognitive load in Muhammadiyah 1 Sidoarjo junior high school students. The results showed a correlation coefficient of (r = 0.510) with a significance value of 0.001 (>0.05), the research hypothesis was accepted
