The Use of Comic Media for Teaching Writing

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate how comic media can be used to teach English writing in sports talent classes at SMP Negeri 2 Sidoarjo, as well as to pinpoint the difficulties that teachers encounter in this process. This research employed a qualitative case study methodology that included document analysis, interviews, and observation. The study's conclusions showed that using comic books to teach writing helps students grasp narrative patterns and improve their writing abilities. However, there were other difficulties, such as diverse group determination and difficulty communicating the topic due to a lack of language mastery. This study found that while comic books are a useful instructional tool for writing, overcoming these obstacles is necessary for its successful application. It is advised to conduct more research.
