Abstract

Low comprehension and reading skills will have an effect on student’s ability to learn Indonesian namely on reading coprehension. This inability will make it difficult for students to find the main idea in a reading, difficulty in concluding a text and will also have difficulty in answering question given by the teacher. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine whether the Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review (PQ4R) learning method has an influence on students’ reading skills in elementary school. The result showed that the Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review(PQ4R) methode had an influence on students’ reading comprehension skills. This can be proven by the result of a ttest with a sginificance level of 5% which obtained a sig (2-tailed) value of 0,000 < 0,05 which shows that the Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review (PQ4R) method has an influence on students’ reading comprehension skills.
