Abstract

Composite materials are indeed being researched a lot for now. However, there is still very little information about composite materials reinforced with Sansevieria natural fibers with the addition of amylum starch concentrations. This article aims to determine the effect of increasing the concentration of amylum starch on Sansevieria fiber-reinforced composites.  with Sansevieria natural fibers treated with 5% NaOH treatment with a modified polyester matrix that is given an addition to the concentration of amillum starch of 6%, 7%, 8%, 9%, 10% of the matrix weight. The printing method uses the hand lay-up method. For tensile testing using the ASTM D-638 standard and for compression testing using the ASTM D-695 standard. it was concluded that the addition of amylum starch to the matrix of a composite reinforced with sansevieria natural fibers was proven to increase the strength value in the tensile test but decreased the strength value in the compression test.
