Abstract

This study analyzes the performance of a circular saw machine that can operate at angles between 45-90 degrees in the wood industry, using sengon, meranti, and teak wood. Parameters tested include cutting speed, cutting accuracy, and operational reliability, using a Surface Roughness Tester and a Digital Angle Ruler. Results show that sengon and meranti wood achieve the best smoothness at a 65-degree angle, while teak wood shows consistent smoothness. Cutting angle accuracy is excellent at all tested angles. The design and quality of the saw blade, as well as machine calibration, significantly affect cutting precision and smoothness. Recommendations include selecting machines with variable cutting angle capability, regular calibration and maintenance, and understanding wood material properties to determine optimal cutting angles and blade types. These findings help the wood industry enhance productivity and product quality.
