Abstract

In the era of new media, it is undeniable that the phenomenon of hyperreality is rife in social media, especially Twitter, which is used by homosexuals as a medium to express themselves and gain recognition from society. The purpose of this study is to reveal hyperreality and self-disclosure carried out by homosexuals throughalter account in twitter. The research method used in this research is qualitative research using a phenomenological study approach. The data collection technique used was purposive sampling. Data obtained through observation, in-depth interviews on informants, literature study, and documentation. In the results of the study found hyperreality that occurred inalter account  is a simulation of identity on Twitter and rateself disclosure measured through the dimensions of duration, frequency, valence, honesty, purpose and intent, and intimacy found user opennessalter account is in a good level and the reasons for feeling comfortable and relieved after self-disclosure.
