Abstract

Sansivera fiber is is one of the good quality natural fibers to be developed in research. This study aims to analyze the effect of Alkali treatment with levels of 4%, 7%, 10%, 13% and 15% Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) on the tensile strength of epoxy matrix Sanseviera trifasciata. The main materials of this research is Sansivera fiber, KOH and epoxy resin. Sansivera fiber used was treated with 4%, 7%, 10%, 13% and 15% KOH for 4 hours at room temperature.  The results of the research that has been done show that the tensile strength of the composite with 4% KOH treatment has the highest strength of 7.21 N/mm² with an elongation of 3.26%. Composite tensile test with 4% KOH treatment was used as a composite reinforcement material. Composite test results with the highest strength values were found in specimens treated with 10% KOH of 52.252 N/mm².
