Abstract

Defect is a high risk because it can reduce the company's productivity quantities which often caused by defects in its production. For 6 months PT XYZ was able to produce 184.708 pcs of car exhaust components and found 5.888 pcs with a percentage of 3.18% of car exhaust components experiencing defects.  Drawing discrepancies, berets, press marks, dents, oblique punches, overlaps, non-conformities in forming results and ruptures are defects found. The purpose of this study is to determine the value of sigma in quality control at PT XYZ and to determine the root cause of defects up to the stage of improvement using six sigma method (DMAIC) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA). In data processing using the DMAIC method and obtained DPMO results for 6 months of 4093,975 which are at sigma level 4 values. Factors that affect defects in car exhaust components are materials, methods, people, machines and the environment.
