Strengthening the Religious Character of Students Through Religious Habits in Islamic Elementary Schools

Abstract

Religious habituation activities are the process of forming religious character automatically and repeatedly through religious activities in the classroom and outside the classroom at school. The purpose of this study is to describe religious habituation activities to shape the religious character of elementary school students using a qualitative approach with a type of phenomenology. The object and subject of the research chose the research object at the Hawari Creative Islamic Elementary School, Sidoarjo with the subjects being religious teachers and teachers from grades 1 to grade 6, totaling 7 people. The results of the study show that religious habituation in strengthening students' religious character is carried out through seven habituations, namely: (1) praying before learning begins; (2) reading and memorizing Asma al-Husna; (3) Dhuha prayer in the congregation; (4) Dhuhr prayer in the congregation; (5) memorizing juz 30; (6) morning alms, and (7) reading surah al-Kahf.
