Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of self-control and family social support on the subjective well-being of students in institutions in Candi, Sidoarjo. The research employed a quantitative correlational design using multiple linear regression. The sample consisted of 180 students selected through purposive sampling. Instruments included the Brief Self-Control Scale, the Family Social Support Scale, and the Student Subjective Well-Being Questionnaire, all demonstrating high reliability. Results showed that self-control had a positive and significant effect on subjective well-being (p = 0.000). Family social support also had a positive and significant effect on subjective well-being (p = 0.000). Simultaneously, self-control and family social support significantly predicted subjective well-being, contributing 21% of the variance. These findings indicate that subjective well-being is influenced by internal self-control and external family support; therefore, strengthening self-control and promoting adaptive family support are essential in the school environment for students’ development and overall mental health outcomes.
