Abstract

Adolescent loneliness hasbecome increasingly relevant psychological issue alongside therapid growth ofsocial media use and changes infamily dynamics. This study aimed toexamine the effects of social media use intensity and parental attachment on adolescent loneliness. Using a quantitative correlational design, study involved 112 junior highschool students inSidoarjo Regency selected through purposivesampling. Data were collected through validated and reliable scales measuring social media use intensity, parental attachment, and loneliness. Multiple linear regression analysis was applied to examine the relationships among variables. The results showed that social media use intensity and parentalattachment simultaneously had significant effect adolescent loneliness. However, partial analysis indicated thatonly parentalattachment had a significant negative effect on loneliness, while social media use intensity didnot show significant influence. These findings highlight that secure parental attachment plays more crucial role than social media use intensity reducing loneliness among early adolescents, functioning important protective factor that supports adolescents’ emotional well-being amid increasing digital engagement
