The Meaning of Self-Efficacy Experience of Tahfidz Scholarship Students in Facing the Challenges of Achieving the Target of Memorizing the Qur'an: A Phenomenological Study

This study aims to explore the meaning of self-efficacy experiences of students receiving tahfidz scholarships in facing the challenges of memorizing the Qur'an. A qualitative phenomenological approach with in-depth interviews was used on two students at Muhammadiyah University Sidoarjo. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model: reduction, presentation, and verification of conclusions. The results show that self-efficacy is reflected in three main aspects: magnitude, strength, and generality. In terms of magnitude, students recognize the difference between the difficulty of academic tasks and memorization. Strength is influenced by social support, time pressure, and religious obligations. Generality is seen in adaptation through time management and consistent memorization strategies. Influencing factors included past success, learning from others, verbal persuasion, and psychological conditions. This study confirmed the role of self-efficacy in maintaining memorization and academic achievement.
