Short video content is the platform's strategic response to the content consumption trend dominated by short-duration portrait video formats. This phenomenon first became popular in Japan and has now spread to various countries, including Indonesia. Avatars used by VTubers are developed with the Live2D animation program, which becomes the object of analysis in investigating visual communication forms in VTuber performances within today’s convergent media landscape, such as YouTube Shorts that resemble TikTok like features. This article adopts a qualitative approach involving observation and content analysis to study the VTuber Yatagarasu no Yuta through Roland Barthes’ Semiotic framework. The study seeks to reveal how visual and symbolic signs shape meaning and identity across denotative, connotative, and mythological dimensions of the character presented, build a strong virtual identity of character, and Minecraft game storytelling content with a light horror theme appeal to the community by utilizing the latest features like YouTube Shorts.
