Abstract

Academic engagement reflects students’ emotional, cognitive, and behavioral involvement in learning. This study examined the effects of academic stress and time management on academic engagement among students of Muhammadiyah University Sidoarjo. Using a quantitative correlational approach with a cross-sectional design, data were collected from 343 students selected through accidental sampling. Instruments included academic stress, time management, and academic engagement scales with acceptable reliability. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that academic stress and time management simultaneously had a significant effect on academic engagement, accounting for 44.3% of the variance. Partially, academic stress had a significant negative effect, while time management had a significant positive effect on academic engagement. These findings highlight the importance of managing academic stress and improving time management to enhance students’ academic engagement.
