Abstract

Arabic language learning at the MTs level is essential for improving maharah qira’ah as a foundation for understanding religious texts. However, low motivation and limited vocabulary remain significant obstacles. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of Arabic comic media in enhancing the reading skills of seventh-grade students at MTs Hidayatullah Denpasar. Using a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design (One Group Pretest–Posttest), the study involved 20 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected via tests, observation, and documentation, then analyzed using a paired sample t-test. The results showed an increase in the average score from 42 (pretest) to 60.5 (posttest). A significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05) and a t-value of -11.103 (t-table -2.093) confirmed that $H_0$ was rejected. In conclusion, Arabic comic media is effective in improving students' reading skills by creating an interactive and enjoyable learning atmosphere, despite requiring teacher attention toward potential visual distractions.
