Abstract

Learning motivation plays a crucial role in determining students’ academic success however observations interviews and preliminary surveys at smp islam al hidayah pasuruan indicated that many students experienced moderate to low learning motivation and difficulties in setting clear learning goals this study aimed to examine the effectiveness of goal-setting psychoeducation in improving students’ learning motivation the research employed a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design involving 26 ninth-grade students learning motivation was measured using a 13-item likert-scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability the intervention was conducted in four sessions focusing on understanding learning goals and practicing goal formulation based on the smart principle data analysis used appropriate statistical tests to examine differences between pretest and posttest scores the results showed increased learning motivation after the intervention indicating its effectiveness as a supportive strategy to help students stay focused and committed to achieving their academic goals in school contexts
