The Relationship Between Emotional Regulation and School Readiness in Preschool Children

School readiness consists of fundamental skills that need to be developed by preschoolers, especially those aged 5-6 years. School readiness is important considering the many differences that children will encounter in the elementary school environment later on. One of the fundamental skills that is part of school readiness is emotional maturity, which includes emotional regulation. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a significant positive relationship between emotional regulation and school readiness in preschool children in Sidoarjo. Using correlation analysis and a correlational approach, as well as a cross-sectional research design, this study was conducted based on Kagan and Rigby's theory of school readiness. The results of the study show that when children's emotional regulation skills improve, their school readiness also increases. Thus, this study proves that there is a relationship between emotional regulation and school readiness in preschool children.
