The Effect of the Combination of Red Ginger Extract (Zingiber officinale Roxb.var.rubrum) and Coriander Seeds (Coriandrum sativum L.) on Increasing Leukocyte Counts and Reducing Platelet Counts under Diabetic Conditions

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder that affects blood glucose levels, the immune system, and hemostasis. Chronic hyperglycemia can cause oxidative stress and inflammation, leading to increased leukocyte and platelet counts. This study aimed to analyze the effect of the combination of red ginger (Zingiber officinale var. rubrum) and coriander seed (Coriandrum sativum L.) extracts on leukocyte and platelet counts under diabetic conditions. Using a true experimental pre- and post-test randomized controlled group design, the study involved 20 male Wistar rats divided into control and treatment groups receiving 800 mg/kgBW extracts and a 1:1 combination. The research was conducted from June to July 2025 at the Integrated Medical Laboratory, Muhammadiyah University of Sidoarjo. The results showed that the combination extract significantly affected leukocyte (p=0.002) and platelet (p=0.008) counts, indicating its potential to help maintain hematological balance under diabetic conditions.
