Abstract

Children with speech delay often struggle to develop sufficient vocabulary, which hinders their communication and social interaction. Effective interventions are therefore required, and flashcards represent one practical alternative. This study employed a quasi-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test design, involving a 7-year-old child diagnosed with speech delay. The results showed that flashcards significantly improved the child’s speaking ability, particularly in vocabulary development and speech clarity. At the beginning, the child could recognize only 2–10 words, but after the intervention, this increased to 20–25 words, including more complex terms. These findings suggest that flashcards can be an effective strategy for teachers and parents to support vocabulary growth and enhance language skills in children with speech delay
