The Influence of Board Game Media on the Learning Motivation of Fourth-Grade Elementary School Students

Elementary education is essential for developing cognitive, affective, and psychomotor abilities, making learning motivation a key factor in student success. This study used a quantitative one-group pretest-posttest design with 30 fourth-grade students at Kedungrejo 1 Elementary School in the 2024/2025 academic year. Data were collected through questionnaires based on motivation indicators and analyzed using a paired sample t-test. The findings show that the use of board game media, specifically Snakes and Ladders, significantly improved students’ learning motivation. Before applying the board game, students’ motivation was 70.37% (good), while after its application it increased to 86.39% (very good). The Shapiro-Wilk test results (pretest 0.121 and posttest 0.136, both >0.05) indicated normally distributed data. The paired t-test results (p = 0.000 < 0.05) confirmed a significant effect, proving that board game media effectively enhances motivation in elementary school learning.
