The Communicative Approach as a Learning Strategy Elementary School Students' Speaking Skills

This study aims to analyze the supporting and inhibiting factors of the implementation of the communicative approach in Indonesian language learning, as well as assess its effectiveness in improving elementary school students' speaking skills. The research method used a descriptive qualitative approach with observation and documentation interviews techniques with teachers in class 3B SDN Sepande. The results of this study indicate that the communicative approach is able to improve students' speaking skills, especially in courage, fluency, and the use of intonation according to punctuation. Supporting factors include teacher creativity, a variety of learning media, and the provision of positive feedback. The main obstacles are limited time, lack of confidence, and the dominance of participation by some students. However, strategies such as speaking habits, group discussions, and providing simple rewards have proven effective in reducing these obstacles.
