This study aims to analyze learning motivation in terms of writing skills in grade 2 students of Sumput Elementary School. The motivation studied focuses on intrinsic motivation, namely the drive from within the child including interest, desire, and independence. Theoretically, children aged 7–8 years are at the concrete operational development stage according to Piaget, so that logical thinking skills and basic writing skills are developing rapidly. The research method used is qualitative with a case study design. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using technical triangulation. The results of the study indicate that students with high intrinsic motivation tend to be able to write more fluently, neatly, and consistently, while students with low motivation often experience difficulties in composing their writing and are less organized.
