Expert System for Diagnosing of Anxiety Disorders in Generation Z Using the Android Based Certainty Factor Method

Abstract

The mental health of Generation Z is becoming an increasingly important issue as social media usage
increases, leading to the emergence of anxiety disorders. This study aims to develop an Android-based
expert system that can help independently diagnose anxiety disorders. The Certainty Factor (CF) method,
based on psychology expert data and the DASS-42 measurement instrument, is used. This allows the system
to calculate the certainty value of a diagnosis based on the symptoms inputted by the user. Test results show
that the system can provide an accurate diagnosis, with trials on 12 respondents yielding a 100% accuracy
rate. It is also equipped with additional features such as a diagnosis history, anxiety management solutions,
daily reminders, and progress monitoring. With this system, Generation Z has easier access to
understanding and managing their mental health independently.
