Abstract

This study examined the relationship between adversity quotient and social support with academic stress among working students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo. A quantitative correlational approach was used with 249 respondents selected through probability sampling. Instruments included the adversity quotient scale, social support scale, and academic stress scale. Data analysis employed the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, linearity test, and Spearman’s Rho correlation using SPSS version 29. Results showed a significant negative relationship between adversity quotient and academic stress (r = –0.206; p = 0.001) and between social support and academic stress (r = –0.373; p = 0.000). A positive significant relationship was also found between adversity quotient and social support (r = 0.217; p = 0.001). Most respondents were in the moderate category for adversity quotient (73.9%), low for social support (93.6%), and low for academic stress (100%). Findings indicate adversity quotient and social support function as protective factors against academic stress.
