Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by persistent hyperglycemia that can lead to complications in various organs, including the liver. Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) reflects long-term glucose control, while SGOT and SGPT are liver enzymes that increase with hepatocellular damage. This study aimed to analyze the correlation between HbA1c and liver enzymes SGOT and SGPT in T2DM patients. A quantitative analytical correlation with a cross-sectional design was conducted on 30 T2DM patients over 45 years old at Bhayangkara Hospital Pusdik Sabhara Porong, Sidoarjo, selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using Kendall’s tau-b test. The results showed a significant correlation between HbA1c and SGOT (p=0.000; r=0.557) and SGPT (p=0.018; r=0.317). It can be concluded that increased HbA1c levels are significantly associated with elevated SGOT and SGPT levels, indicating impaired liver function in T2DM patients.
