Abstract

This study investigates the effect of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model on strengthening elementary school students’ understanding of the dimensions of mutual cooperation. Mutual cooperation involves working together, caring for others, and sharing knowledge to achieve common goals. However, interviews and discussions revealed that collaboration, care, and participation in group activities were still low, indicating limited implementation of these values. The research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. Data were collected using a validated and reliable Guttman scale questionnaire, involving 30 third-grade students. Data analysis included normality testing, paired sample t-test, and effect size calculation using the eta squared formula. The findings showed a significant positive effect of PjBL on students’ understanding of mutual cooperation dimensions. The effect size was categorized as significant, indicating that the PjBL model is effective in enhancing elementary students’ cooperative values.
