The Influence of Pop Up Book Media on IPAS Learning in Critical Thinking Skills of Elementary School Students

This study investigates the effect of pop-up book learning media on Grade V students’ critical thinking skills in IPAS (integrated science and social studies) topics: Digestive Organs, Nutrition, and Balanced Eating Patterns. Using a quantitative approach, 38 students from classes VA and VB at SDN Kendalpecabean participated. Pre-test and post-test results revealed significant improvement in students’ understanding, supporting the hypothesis that pop-up book media enhances critical thinking. The visually appealing, interactive, and contextual format helped students grasp concepts more concretely and enjoyably. Beyond serving as a visual aid, the media encouraged active exploration, decision-making, and independent opinion expression. Questionnaire results indicated most students felt supported in independent learning and deeper thinking. The learning process became more meaningful through discussions and logical reasoning. Positive responses (95.16%) highlight the media’s effectiveness in creating engaging, motivating learning experiences, ultimately fostering the success of IPAS learning in elementary school.
