Digital-based learning continues to grow; however, media integration that promotes local wisdom values remains limited. A culture-based approach can enhance students’ understanding and make learning more relevant to everyday life. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of using an ethnoscience-based digital flipbook in improving students’ understanding of local wisdom material. The research employed a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design involving 35 fourth-grade students at SDN Dukuh Tengah Sidoarjo. Research instruments consisted of pretest and posttest assessments, analyzed using a paired sample t-test and Cohen’s d to measure the effect size. Results indicated a significant improvement in students’ understanding (p = 0.000 < 0.05), with the mean score rising from 35 to 58. The Cohen’s d value of 5.38 reflects a very large effect. In conclusion, ethnoscience-based digital flipbooks are effective in enhancing students’ comprehension and appreciation of local wisdom and serve as an innovative alternative learning medium for elementary schools.
