Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of loose part media in enhancing early childhood literacy and numeracy skills at TK Mutiara Ummi. The research involved 11 children aged 4–6 years. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that loose part media is effective in supporting fun and contextual learning experiences. In  literacy, children were observed recognizing letters and forming words through activities such as assembling letter puzzles. In numeracy, children were introduced to basic concepts like counting, comparing, and classifying through hands-on exploration of concrete objects. The supporting factors in implementing loose part media at TK Mutiara Ummi include the availability of materials, teacher creativity, and adequate facilities. Besides, the obstacles encountered were limited play space, short learning duration, and low parental involvement. Overall, loose part media has proven to be effective in actively stimulating children's cognitive development in an engaging and meaningful way.
