Abstract

This study aims to analyse the cognitive abilities of elementary school students based on their learning styles in science subjects, especially on the material of changes in the form of substances. This research uses a qualitative phenomenological approach, by conducting direct observations and interviews with 4 fourth grade students at MINU Sumokali who are classified into three learning styles, namely visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles. The data collection methods used include written tests, interviews, and documentation, with cognitive abilities assessed through six indicators: remembering, understanding, applying, analysing, evaluating, and creating. The results showed that students with auditory learning style (ZDN3) achieved the highest score, categorised as excellent, while students with visual learning style (FTR1) also scored excellent, and students with visual (HFZ2) and kinesthetic (AGS4) learning styles were categorised as good. Overall, the findings suggest that the majority of students demonstrated good cognitive ability.
