Abstract

Primary students experience difficulties in mathematical literacy. A metaphorical thinking learning model that uses metaphors can help visualize and deepen students' understanding of mathematical concepts. This study aims to answer whether the metaphorical thinking learning model can affect mathematical literacy in area conservation. Methods used were post-test-only control group design. Samples were taken using a simple random sampling technique. Data were collected using a test instrument. The analysis technique used is the independent t-test. The results of this study highlighted the advantages of the metaphorical thinking learning model in enhancing the mathematical literacy of primary students. In this, there is an enhancement in each aspect of mathematical literacy. The most highly affected aspects are in order of formulating situations mathematically, followed by the aspects of employing concepts, facts, procedures, and mathematical reasoning, and the least from interpreting, applying, and evaluating mathematical outcomes. evaluating mathematical outcomes.
