IoT Based Indoor Calathea Ornamental Plant Monitoring and Control System

Abstract

Calathea is a popular indoor ornamental plant known for its beautiful foliage and requires consistent environmental monitoring. This study aims to develop an IoT-based system to monitor soil moisture levels and air temperature for indoor Calathea plants, as well as to control a water pump using the Blynk application. The system utilizes a NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller integrated with a soil moisture sensor, a DHT11 sensor, and a DC pump controlled via a 5V relay. It operates in two modes automatic and manual allowing users to remotely monitor and manage plant conditions. Black Box testing shows that the system functions effectively in maintaining optimal conditions for plant health. The implementation of this system enhances the efficiency of plant care and offers a practical solution for smart indoor farming.
