This qualitative research aims to examine the phenomenon of household simulation among college students from outside regions in Yogyakarta, focusing on the factors causing it and its impacts. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations of five student couples engaging in household simulation in Yogyakarta. The research findings indicate that factors such as economic limitations, environmental influences, lack of parental attention, and free association are the main motivators for the occurrence of household simulation. The negative impacts include the risk of unintended pregnancies, deception towards parents, psychological consequences (such as anxiety and stress), and conflict with partners. This study provides theoretical implications by enriching the understanding of interpersonal communication in the context of non-marital relationships. The implications of this research highlight the need for educational and preventive programs aimed at college students from outside regions to reduce the risk of household simulation.
