Case Study: Revitalizing the Culture of Local Wisdom through Extracurricular Activities to Create a Student Profile of Pancasila

Globalization has led to a cultural shift among the younger generation, potentially diminishing the presence of local wisdom. Schools can help revitalize local culture through culture-based extracurricular activities to ensure its preservation. This study aims to: (1) describe the implementation process of culture-based extracurricular activities; (2) explain the Pancasila student profile components within traditional dance, karawitan, and pencak silat activities; and (3) identify inhibiting factors. The research was conducted at Hang Tuah 9 Elementary School in Sidoarjo using qualitative methods and a case study approach. Subjects included the principal, extracurricular coaches, and students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model and triangulation. The findings show that implementation involves three stages: planning, execution, and evaluation. These activities not only enhance students’ appreciation of cultural heritage but also foster character values such as discipline, responsibility, confidence, critical thinking, and a strong Pancasila spirit.
