Abstract

Self-acceptance is an important factor in the psychological development of adolescents, especially adolescents living in orphanages. Orphanage adolescents face various emotional and social challenges due to limited family support, which can affect their self-confidence and psychological well-being. This study aims to improve self-acceptance of adolescents in orphanages through training based on Bastaman's self-acceptance factors. This study used a quantitative experimental method of one group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects involved 15 adolescent girls from Aisyiyah Sidoarjo Orphanage, who were selected through purposive sampling technique. The training was conducted in two sessions using lecturing, discussion, audiovisual, games, mental imagery, writing task, and group counseling methods. Data were analyzed using paired sample t-test statistical test to measure the difference between pretest and posttest results. The results showed a significant increase in the participants' level of self-acceptance after the training. Thus, this training is effective in helping orphanage adolescents understand and accept themselves.
