Abstract

This research was conducted in a company engaged in the production of a product. During the production process, the company had problems in May-October, the highest defect results were in May with 315 kg of gravel, 152 kg of refined sugar, 63 kg of molasses, with a total defect reaching 315 kg. One of them is the increasing number of defective products during the sugar production process. This study aims to identify the type of defect in the quality of sugar products, find out the root of the problem and provide suggestions for improvement to the company. Data processing is carried out using the seven tools method with root cause analysis integration to reduce resource losses. It can be seen that the causative factors and root causes of product defects are caused by 5 factors, namely, machines, materials, methods, environments, materials, so it is necessary to carry out machine maintenance.
