Racism involves the intentional mistreatment of minorities based on inequality in skin color, race, and appearance, limiting their rights and freedoms. This research applies John Fiske's theory to analyze racial discrimination in a short film, using a qualitative descriptive media text analysis. The study focuses on Fiske’s semiotic analysis of reality, representation, and ideology. The findings suggest that racism in the film is portrayed through appearance codes, expressions, and gestures, with the camera codes representing the representational level. The ideological level is revealed through character attitudes and dialogues reflecting racist behavior. The film highlights the restriction of black people's rights to express themselves through their hairstyles, while white characters feel superior and expect policies to align with their culture.
