Profiling of Public Speaking Anxiety Among Students at SMP X

Abstract

Public speaking is one of the skills that is highly useful in many areas of life, especially in the academic field. The aim of this study is to describe public speaking anxiety among students of Junior High School X. This research uses a descriptive quantitative approach. The population of the study consists of 89 students from Junior High School X who are members of the student council, with all samples included using a saturated sampling technique. The instrument used in this research is a public speaking anxiety scale adopted from previous studies, with a reliability score of 0.94. Data analysis was performed using descriptive analysis with JASP software version 0.18.1. The results of this study indicate that approximately 27% of students have higher levels of public speaking anxiety. The practical and theoretical implications of this study are further discussed.
