Abstract

PT. XYZ is a company that operates in the snack industry sector, specifically in wafers production. The problem faced by the company is the high level of defects in the packaging process. The percentage of packaging defects for the last 12 months was 1.24%, exceeding the company's tolerance limit of 1% of total production, with a defect value of 7962 pcs. The purpose of this study is to reduce the level of defects to within the tolerance limit set by the company. The methods used are six sigma (DMAIC) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA). The results of study showed that the highest percentage of defects was found in the wound/tear corner endseal of 44% of the total defects, the average DPMO value was 1131.46 and the average sigma level was 4.56. The occurrence of defects is caused by method, machine, man, environment, and material factors.
