Abstract

In the digital era, social media has become one of the public spaces that influence people's views and attitudes towards gender issues. she is Ian Hugen, a transgender who has 280 thousand followers  TikTok account. The purpose of this study is to examine the comments that reflect society, especially Muslims, regarding transgender identity and Islamic values regarding gender applied in the digital public sphere. This method uses Netnography and gender performativity theory, this research analyzes through comments on Ian Hugen's TikTok account. This research obtained four positive and three negative comments. The results this study on positive comments, Ian Hugen was praised for his intelligence and creativity. Negative responses that show a rejection of transgender identity because netizens think transgender is a wrong act that is not in accordance with religious teachings and violates God's rules. Shows the diversity of netizen views, ranging from flatly rejecting to showing empathy.
