Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in Islamic Education (PAI) at State Middle Schools. Islamic education in the modern era requires students to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and creative innovation skills. This study explores how PjBL enhances student engagement, creativity, and learning outcomes. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, the study examines student and teacher experiences in PjBL implementation. The findings show that PjBL effectively increases student engagement and learning outcomes in PAI. Through steps like problem identification, project planning, and presenting results, students improve collaboration and understanding. Challenges include limited time and communication issues, but the benefits outweigh them, making learning more relevant. This study recommends a broader application of PjBL in religious education to create an active, enjoyable learning environment that connects education with students’ lives. Expanding PjBL in Islamic education can enhance student-centered learning and critical thinking development.
