This research was conducted in Betro hamlet, Wonosunyo village, Gempol sub-district, Pasuruan regency. The time for conducting the research was 6 months. High demand makes the production process experience problems in the production process. Based on the production process flow for making cassava chips, the process that takes the longest time is the cutting process because it still uses manual cutting tools. The method used is Value Engineering. This research aims to maximize the performance of the selep machine for the process of cutting cassava chips by modifying the selep machine, in order to increase the productivity of making cassava chips. Based on this method, the results showed that the machine modification was chosen as the preferred option because it was cheaper to use at a price of IDR 1,434,000 and had more functions than a ready-made cutting machine
