Augmented Reality-based Drug Education Application as a Learning Media for the Young Generation

Abstract

 

Drugs pose a serious threat to public health, especially among the younger generation. Despite efforts by the national narcotics agency, reductions remain suboptimal. Augmented Reality (AR) technology offers a more interactive and engaging approach to drug education. This research developed an AR-based educational application to help the younger generation understand drugs and their effects. Using the Multimedia Development Life Cycle method, which includes six stages from concept to distribution, the application educates users on drug types and side effects. Developed with the Markless Based Tracking method and evaluated using black box testing in the “very good” category, it provides an effective educational tool. However, limitations include incompatibility with Easy AR plugins on Samsung Android devices. Overall, the application supports drug education for the younger generation and the broader community.
