This study explores community perceptions of Islamic educational institutions (LPIs) with ideologies differing from the local majority. Employing a qualitative approach with case studies, data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving LPI administrators, religious leaders, parents, and community members. Using Miles and Huberman's analysis, the study reveals predominantly positive perceptions when LPIs demonstrate strong educational quality, adherence to religious values, professional management, and a safe environment. Many parents appreciate their emphasis on Islamic character education. However, negative perceptions persist in communities resistant to ideological differences or when LPIs are seen as misaligned with local culture. Concerns about radicalism, value compatibility, and institutional quality also contribute to criticism. To foster acceptance, LPIs should engage inclusively with the community, communicate openly, and maintain transparency. These findings offer insights into the relationship between Islamic education and community dynamics, highlighting the role of diversity and tolerance in education.
