Abstract

This study presents the development of a Blind Spot Alert Sensing System for the Phinisi Cruise Ship, utilizing a laser distance sensor and an Arduino Uno microcontroller. The system is designed to enhance navigational safety by detecting obstacles in blind spots during maneuvers. The laser distance sensor provides real-time distance measurements, which are processed by the Arduino to determine potential collisions. An alert mechanism is integrated to notify the crew of detected obstacles, thereby reducing the risk of accidents. The prototype was tested under various operational conditions, demonstrating improved awareness of blind spots and contributing to safer navigation. This innovative approach showcases the potential of low-cost sensing technology in maritime applications, highlighting the effectiveness of Arduino
