Abstract

Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. One of the factors for the success of TB treatment is patient adherence to medication. Patient adherence to medication can be observed from the conversion results in laboratory examinations. The aim of the study is to determine the relationship between the characteristics of Drug-Resistant TB patients and medication adherence. The design used in this study is Descriptive Exploratory. The study was conducted from March to May 2024 at the Microbiology Laboratory Unit of RSUD dr. Saiful Anwar Malang. The samples used were 50 Drug-Resistant TB sputum samples with the inclusion criteria of purulent sputum, collected first thing in the morning, volume >1 ml, resistant to second-line TB drugs. Samples were examined using the BACTEC (MGIT) 960 culture tool.. The Chi-Square test showed no significant relationship between gender and age of Drug-Resistant TB patients with medication adherence (p=0.134, p=0.563).
