Fungal infections can occur in the lungs due to Aspergillus or in subcutaneous tissue caused by Chromoblastomycosis. Histopathological staining of fungi uses Periodic Acid Schiff (PAS) and Gomori's Methenamine Silver (GMS). The purpose of this study is to compare the staining quality between conventional PAS and GMS with modified (PAS-Tartrazine and GMS-Phloxine Tartrazine) on Aspergillus and Chromoblastomycosis in tissues. The study design is descriptive exploratory. The research was conducted at Sudarma Medical Laboratory, Surabaya in May 2024. The research samples were paraffin blocks and stained using PAS, GMS, PAS-Tartrazine, and GMS-Phloxine Tartrazine. The number of samples was 6 with 2 repetitions. The staining quality assessment results were tested with the Mann-Whitney test. In PAS and PAS-Tartrazine staining a sig. value <0.05, where in GMS and GMS-Phloxine Tartrazine staining a sig. value <0.05. In PAS-Tartrazine, the fungi appeared clearer compared to PAS, while in GMS and GMS-Phloxine Tartrazine, appeared equally clear
