Abstract

The research in this paper aims to analyze students' errors in solving fraction story problems based on Newman's theory. This analysis aims to explain the causes of student errors in working on fraction story problems and analyze the results of student interviews to understand the causes of their mistakes. With the use of qualitative descriptive methods with data collection techniques in the form of tests and interviews. The subjects of this research were fifth grade students at SDN Lemah Putro 1 Sidoarjo. The results showed that there were three students who were able to achieve the first indicator at the Newman level, namely the reading phase. However, students still make mistakes in steps 2 to 5 of the Newman procedure.
